Viagra Research (clinical trials)

Viagra represents the first and only FDA approved oral medication for the treatment of impotence.

In clinical trials Viagra was assessed for its effect on the ability of men with ED to achieve and maintain an erection. Viagra was administered to more than 3,000 patients aged 19-89 years, with impotence of various etiologies (organic, psychogenic, mixed). Viagra demonstrated statistically significant improvement compared to placebo in some 21 different studies including the following:

Some 78% of men reported improved erections while taking 50 mg and 100 mg doses of Viagra (verses only 24% on a placebo).

In patients with psychogenic etiologies 84% of individuals taking Viagra reported improved erections (verses 26% on a placebo).

Across all trials, Viagra improved the erections of 43% of radical prostectomy patients (verses only 12% on a placebo). Recent studies reveal that orgasms are enhanced by Viagra as well as intercourse satisfaction, and overall satisfaction independent of erection.

Viagra and Women - pleliminary studies are still inconclusive, female sexual function has been difficult for researcher to quantify. We are expecting some more data concerning this topic in the near future.
